Dear reader,

A customer needs also an permanent VPN connection (client router connection) to send x minutes some data to a server. But they need also remote access via mbCONNECT24.
I get more of this questions in the world of Priva building automation customers. A good opportunity for us, we see chances.

It is for a small application, so mymbCONNECT24 is to big application.

But problem is when you configure router on portal and add in the router the extra openVPN than you couldn't use the CTM anymore. Because when you want to synchronize a setting between portal and router you lost the extra VPN connection.

So in this application we couldn't use the synchronize option and loose this nice feature.

May be it is possible to find a solution for this. For example (my idea) may be select or deselect settings you didn't want to synchronize, for example VPN settings.
Like we had with importing configuration in the mbNET HW1 in the past.

If you need more information don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Dave!

Thanks for the suggestion. It is not planned to change the CTM mechanism. It is designed in a way that when using the rsp.mbCONNECT24 server, it is not used as a "stand-alone router". A kind of hybrid of two things but still use all functionalities like the CTM is a special case and therefore not on our roadmap for now, but also not eliminated.

But when reading the application, it sounds like a "VPN port" application. The component that needs to read out the data can be connected to the VPN port and has permanent access to the LAN-components of the routers. For remote access to that component connected to the VPN port you can use a mbNET router + web2go (VNC or RDP).
Thats just an idea from other, similar applications.

Thanks!

Hello Stefan,

Thanks for the answer.

The component is a server with an historian on it. So I think this won't work with VNC or RDP.

We could also deactive in this case the CTM on router.
