Tutorial: Firmware update via the USB interface
The mbNET-device firmware can be uploaded using the USB-ínterface. To do this please follow the procedure below.
1. Preparation
- Go to https://downloadportal.mbconnectline.com/en/mbnet.html and download the latest firmware version (e.g "mbNET_FW_V712.zip").
- After extracting it, you will find the actual firmware file ("image.bis" (HW01) or "image.swux" (HW02)) along with the "changelog.txt" and "open-source-software-licenses.txt” files.
- Save the firmware image file on a USB stick.
Notice
IMPORTANT: The firmware file must not be renamed and must be stored in the root of the USB stick! The USB stick must have the FAT file format!
2. Execution
When the mbNET is ready for operation (LED Pwr + Rdy light up), connect the USB stick to the USB interface of the mbNET-device.
- As soon as mbNET-device.detected and verified the firmware image file LED fc1 + Fc3 start flashing.
- Now press the Dial Out button and keep it pressed until LED Fc2 flashes.
- Release the Dial Out button.
The mbNET now performs a device reboot. - If both the Pwr and Rdy LEDs light up, the firmware update is complete.
Warning
IMPORTANT: During the firmware update
- do not push the Reset button
- do not turn off the power supply
- do not remove the USB drive while the update runs
The mbNET is now ready for operation and can be used again as usual.
Notice
- If both the firmware as well as a mbCONNECT24 portal configuration are on the USB stick, the firmware will always be detected by the mbNET (Fc1 + Fc3 flash). If you do not respond within 10 seconds, the Dial Out button switches the mbNET to Portal Configuration (Fc1 + Fc2 flash). If you do not respond within 10 seconds, the device will return to normal mode
- While we uploaded most common USB-drivers, sometimes a USB stick is not recognised by the mbNET-device. In this case please try a different USB stick.
