What impact does the CTM update process have on the device?
The update process generally consists of the following steps:
- Transferring the firmware file to the device
- Verifying the file's validity
- Writing the firmware to the device's memory
- Activating the new firmware by restarting the device
The two main methods differ in when the restart is performed:
- If you activate the firmware manually through the portal, you need to initiate the restart separately. This also allows you to choose the timing yourself.
- For firmware updates through the automated process starting from 19.09.2024, the restart will be triggered by the portal.
Effects of a router restart:
- Integrated network switch:
- With mbNET: From HW:06 the switch in mbNET is software configurable. This causes interruptions when restarting.
- With mbNET.mini: Interruptions may occur during the boot process.
- WAN/LAN communication:
- No transmission during the boot process for about 60 seconds
- No transmission during the boot process for about 60 seconds
- mbEDGE applications:
- Several minutes until they become active again after the reboot.
