mbDIALUP and mbCHECK have recently reported a closed port what is the cause?

To check if certain ports are accessible from a Windows system to a specific system, we use a long-established special test routine. We are currently observing that this routine is producing the following outputs even though the systems are well reachable:

  • Possible outputs in mbDIALUP :

  • Possible output in mbCHECK :

Recent tests have shown that these messages can occur even though the tested server is accessible. So that the message no longer appears in mbDIALUP and you can connect to your account, you can temporarily deactivate this test in mbDIALUP:

  1. Click on Settings (The tools icon)
  2. Select the tab Options
  3. Enable: Do not check the DNS name of the server at startup
  4. Enable: Do not check the server ports
  5. Confirm with OK

With this setting, the connection to the portal should be successfully established.

Of course, we are continuing to investigate the currently observed behaviour with the aim of providing you with meaningful reports. We will update this article if necessary.

Alternatively, you can test port availability with Windows PowerShell:

How can I check if a specific port is reachable from my location using Windows?
