How does the initial configuration work?

How does the initial configuration work?

Applies to: • mbNET • mbNET.rokey • mbNET.mini

When you create a device in the portal, you can configure it completely. However, during the first configuration, only the configuration parameters necessary for the connection to the portal are transmitted to the device.

The portal informs you of this status with a notification box. For your information, the values included in this initial configuration are highlighted in color:

After the configuration, you can transfer this initial configuration directly to the device via a LAN connection (transfer configuration to the device) or via USB (download configuration to the PC). For the USB option, you will receive a file mbconnect24.initial. You can import this as described in the instructions.

Once the device has received its initial configuration, it will contact the portal to retrieve its complete configuration.

Note:
  • mbNET / mbNET.mini: If a demand connection is configured on the devices, they will establish the first connection even if the connection condition is not met. After the complete configuration has been retrieved, the rules for the demand connection apply.
  • mbNET.rokey: The key switch must be set to ONL or REM for the router to establish a connection to the portal.

While the complete configuration is being transferred to the router, you will see the following display in the portal:

Then the device will reconnect to the portal and be ready for use:
